What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar
calendar. During this blessed month, Muslims around the world observe fast
during the daylight hours and abstain from drink, food, and other physical
needs. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. During this blessed month
Muslims observe strict fast and spend most of their time to worship Allah,
reading Quran and asking Allah for forgiveness of sins. Also during this month
people will strengthen their ties with family and friends. Ramadan is a
time to purify the soul, practice self-discipline and sacrifice.
